An infrared (IR) scan is used to display non-visible heat radiation in a visible fashion, called a thermograph. As the temperature changes, the color displayed on the thermograph also changes. When electrical connections loosen or equipment wears, greater heat is radiated, thus these conditions can be detected on a thermograph.
